Sea Kayak in Raja Ampat

A 17 day trip including 11 days of sea kayaking in one of the places where the marine biodiversity is the richest. In the heart of the coral triangle, the Raja Ampat archipelago is a true paradise for sea  kayaker. An incredible itinerary that will make you discover the many riches of this archipelago of West Papua.
A trip to the end of the world ...

The Raja Ampat Indonesian archipelago is located near the northwest coast of New Guinea. It is made up of 1500 islands, often mountainous offering a very cut coast perfect for the kayaker.
Because of its geographical location and its isolation, Raja Ampat has retained an exceptional biodiversity and mass tourism has not yet arrived in the region.

We propose you an exploration trip in this very remote place in small group of 6 people maximum. Sea kayaks allow us to reach particularly wild places away from all classical tourism.

During the trip you are supervised by a  Sea kayak instructor full certificated as well as a Papou kayak guide who knows the region perfectly.

You will paddle between karstic islands with impressive cliffs, through the mangrove swamp, above manta rays cleaning station, in jungle landscapes amid lush nature. You will discover during this trip places rarely trampled by the Westerners.
During our sailing we will of course benefit from the underwater world, so do not forget your fins, your mask and your snorkel because many opportunities to do snorkeling will be offered to us.

We then continue towards the east of Gam and take the time to enjoy "Passage", this thin arm of sea that connects the island of Gam and Waigeo, and which allows access to the immense bay of Kaboei. The current can be strong here and we organize the passage according to the tide. We arrive under the sunset at the hostel of Warikaf to spend the night.

Accommodation is in bed and breakfast and bivouac.
We live in local homestay, comfort is basic, but the most important is there: fresh water to wash, a clean mattress and a good mosquito net. And all this, of course in a dream setting!

We work on site in partnership with an Indonesian association that parallels sea kayaking and environmental protection by enabling local populations to derive a significant income from sea kayaking. Kayaks are therefore manufactured locally from mussels from South African boats, they are of excellent quality and allow the local population to derive income from rentals. The guest rooms are also managed by the local populations. These various financial contributions allow the different villages to finance schools, medical clinics and environmental protection operations. The sea kayak thus allows here a "development" in harmony with nature.
A large part of the price of your stay goes directly to the local populations but also to the "Raja Ampat Research and Conservation Center" (RARCC), an association that militates in the preservation of this epicenter of global biodiversity. RARCC engages local indigenous communities in the deployment of autonomous financial projects and in the creation of small enterprises to stimulate the conservation and protection of the Raja Ampat archipelago as well as present and future generations.
Your trip here, therefore has a real impact in the sustainable development of this region of the globe.

Informations about Raja Ampat

    - There is no need for a visa to go to Indonesia, a passport with at least another 6 months validity (beyond the scheduled return date, with a blank page) is sufficient for many countries.
     - The national currency is the Indonesian Rupee (Rps): 1 euro = roughly 14000 Rps
     - The current time in Raja Ampat is + 8 hours in winter and + 7 hours in summer.
    - It is hot and humid all year round with a humidity close to 90%. Raja Ampat is located a few kilometers from the equator, so the sun is strong but gives a micro climate to the area.
     - The region is in zone 3 at the level of malaria, so it is necessary to take a treatment but it is also necessary to protect against insects with an effective repellent. talk to your doctor

This journey is really at the end of the world. It is a real adventure during which it is advisable to remain cautious because despite the numerous medical dispensaries, we are far from any big hospital. As they say "it is better to prevent than to cure".
Your guide is of course trained in medical care in an isolated environment.
We are in permanent contact via a Spot GPS tag with our partners on site who can, in the event of problems, assist us with a Speedboat or with their helicopter which is used for monitoring and preserving the reef
